Met Gala 2022 'Gilded Glamour' theme gets mixed reactions: 'Impeccable timing' - Fox News

Image
NEW You can now listen to Fox News articles! The 2022 Met Gala theme has gotten some mixed reactions. The much-anticipated Met Gala is back on the first Monday in May this year following a brief hiatus due to the coronavirus . Guests attending part two of September's event have been told the theme is "Gilded Glamour and White Tie." As usual, the sartorial theme comes from the exhibit the gala launches — "In America: An Anthology of Fashion," which is the second of star curator Andrew Bolton’s two-part show exploring the roots of American style. However, many thought it ironic considering the current state of the American economy. The U.S. economy shrank at a 1.4% annual rate last quarter despite solid spending by consumers and businesses. Kim Kardashian cleared of defamation in Blac Chyna trial - Page Six

A Los Angeles judge ruled Kim Kardashian should not be held liable against Blac Chyna’s defamation claim. Documents obtained by Page Six show the court ruled that “no statement” made by the Skims founder, 41, was “alleged to be defamatory” against the “Rob & Chyna” alum, 33. Chyna’s team previously argued they only needed to prove that each defendant in the case — including Kim, Khloé Kardashian, Kylie Jenner and Kris Jenner — took a “responsible part” in defaming Chyna, whose real name is Angela White. Jurors were told to consider evidence, including emails and messages made by Khloé, Kylie and Kris to network executives. The court agreed on Friday that there is “no evidence” to support that Kim had a “responsible part” in defaming Chyna, per the documents, so the Skims founder was dropped from the defamation claim. The ruling was based on the lawyers’ arguments, the court record and papers from the counsel. Although Kim was absolved of the defamation charge, she is potentia

Watch Live: Johnny Depp's attorneys question remote witnesses as trial in suit against ex-wife Amber Heard continues - CBS News

Image
Johnny Depp's attorneys are presenting recorded testimony and testimony from remote witnesses Thursday as they continue his case against ex-wife Amber Heard. The latest witnesses come after Depp's attorneys presented recorded depositions from Los Angeles Police Department officers who responded to Depp and Heard's home after a fight, as well as a doorman and a former agent Wednesday. Depp is suing Heard for libel in Fairfax County Circuit Court after she wrote an op-ed piece in The Washington Post referring to herself as "a public figure representing domestic abuse."  The article doesn't mention Depp by name, but his lawyers say the article contains "defamation by implication," arguing that it clearly refers to allegations of domestic abuse made by Heard when she filed for divorce in 2016. Depp said the Post article contributed to  an unfairly ruined reputation  that made him a Hollywood outcast and cost him his role in the lucrative "Pirates

Tom Cruise’s ‘Top Gun: Maverick’ Blasts Off With Debut Screening at CinemaCon - Hollywood Reporter

Image
Paramount Pictures added fuel to the final day of CinemaCon 2022 on Thursday by unveiling a trailer for Mission: Impossible 7 , showcasing another death-defying Tom Cruise stunt and teasing Damien Chazelle’s anticipated Hollywood fable Babylon . But the true centerpiece was the first full showing of Cruise’s new Top Gun: Maverick that closed out the Thursday morning program. The long-delayed Top Gun: Maverick , returning Tom Cruise as the ultra-gifted and confident Capt. Pete “Maverick” Mitchell, was originally set to hit theaters in summer 2020. The COVID-19 crisis waylaid those plans. Paramount and Skydance subsequently moved the film several more times so that it could get a proper global theatrical release. Related Stories The decision to treat theater owners to the first screening of the movie was a way to thank them for their patience, and it appeared to pay off. But before the big debut, the presentation kicked off with an electric performance by female rap trio J.J. Fa

Disney announces Avatar 2 title, premieres teaser trailer - The A.V. Club

Image
concept art from Avatar: The Way Of Water Illustration: Avatar: The Way Of Water Twitter feed During Walt Disney Studios’ CinemaCon presentation Wednesday morning, Avatar producer Jon Landau presented the forthcoming teaser trailer for the long-awaited first (of many) sequels to the 2009 blockbuster, entitled Avatar: The Way Of Water . Ahead of the clip, Landau discussed writer-director James Cameron’s strategy in rolling out the films while Cameron remained back in Wellington, New Zealand, where he’s overseeing completion of the film in time for its opening day on December 16, 2022. Landau started by announcing the forthcoming re-release of the original Avatar , a decision that’s as shrewd as it probably is necessary; there are literal teenagers who weren’t born when the first film came out, so it makes sense to re-acquaint moviegoers with Pandora, or at least refresh their memories. But in his prepared statements, Landau leaned heavily on the timelessness of Cameron’
