Seven years after its final season aired, Community is finally getting the movie it’s always aimed for. The project was announced on the show’s Twitter account , with star Joel McHale and NBC’s Peacock accounts confirming it was all real. The Community movie will stream on Peacock when it’s released. Community was created by Dan Harmon and started airing on NBC in 2009. Harmon was fired from the show after its third season, which gave season 4 a very different feel, and even led to the characters breaking the fourth wall and calling it “the gas leak year.” (Harmon was later re-hired for season 5 of Community .) The series reached cult-favorite status among its die-hard fans, but rarely, if ever, was it a ratings smash, which made its renewal an open question each year. Trevor Noah is nearing his last laugh on “ The Daily Show .” The comedian, who came out of near anonymity to take over the program from Jon Stewart in 2015, plans to exit the flagship Comedy Central series after a seven-year tenure that saw him transform it for a new generation of viewers who are more at home on social media than they are cable outlets and broadcast networks. Noah revealed his plans to an audience at Thursday evening’s taping of the program in New York, according to two people familiar with the matter. It was not immediately clear when his actual exit would take place, or whether the Paramount Global cable network had begun to consider a successor. Marvel Studios has shaken up its Armor Wars project, and now what was to have been a series for Disney+ will be redeveloped as a feature film. The move essentially pushes back the title further down the development slate. Sources say the studio was committed in getting the story told the right way and in that process realized that a feature was better suited for the project. Like all Marvel movies, it is intended for a theatrical release. Don Cheadle , who is reprising his longtime Marvel Cinematic Universe role as Colonel James “Rhodey” Rhodes, AKA War Machine, remains on board to star. Yassir Lester, who was acting as head writer on the series, will remain as its feature scribe. CNN  —  Kelly Ripa is opening up about her complicated relationship with her former morning show co-host, the late Regis Philbin. The pair co-hosted “Live With Regis and Kelly” from 2001 and 2011. She writes about their relationship in her new book “Live Wire: Long-Winded Short Stories.” Ripa told People writing about working with Philbin, who died of natural causes at the age of 88 in 2020 , was difficult. “I don’t want to feel like I’m slamming anyone or that I’m being disrespectful,” she told the publication. “But I also want people to know it was not a cakewalk.” According to Ripa, she had guest co-hosted the show three times when she was offered the position permanently following the departure of Philbin’s longtime co-host, Kathie Lee Gifford. It’s understood that both sides have agreed to continue to work together, but on a project-by-project basis, now that their previous deal is ending. Winfrey and Apple TV+ are already currently collaborating on the documentary “Sidney,” about the life of iconic Oscar-winning actor Sidney Poitier. That project, directed by Reggie Hudlin, is through Apple Original Films and debuted this past Friday on Apple TV+.
