Prince Harry brushes off military uniform snub ahead of Queen's funeral - Page Six
Prince Harry will be wearing a morning suit to Queen Elizabeth II’s funeral after he was barred from wearing his military uniform.
“Prince Harry, The Duke of Sussex will wear a morning suit throughout events honouring his grandmother,” a spokesperson for the Sussexes said in a statement to Page Six on Tuesday.
“His decade of military service is not determined by the uniform he wears and we respectfully ask that focus remain on the life and legacy of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II.”
Page Six previously revealed that Harry — who served in the military for 10 years — was “saddened” to hear the possibility of not wearing his uniform at the Sept. 19 funeral.
The 37-year-old was stripped of his military titles when he and wife Meghan Markle, 41, quit royal life in 2020 and moved to California.
Royal family followers took to social media to share their outrage over the decision not to let Harry wear the uniform – especially since the disgraced Prince Andrew was allowed to wear a uniform while standing vigil at St. Giles’ Cathedral in Edinburgh Monday “as a special mark of respect for Her Majesty.”
“The Whole World is watching the ‘Tone Deaf’ British Royal ‘Family’ deny Prince Harry, who served 10 years in the Military and 2 Tours in Afghanistan the opportunity to wear a Military uniform during His Grandmothers [sic] Funeral…Wow,” one user tweeted.
“Prince Harry is the only royal who was actually on the front lines defending our country. He has been denied to wear his uniform while the rest of his family flaunt in make believe military costumes & badges INCLUDING Prince Andrew. Clearly its [sic] easier being a p*edophile. Shocking,” someone else wrote.

“Deplorable! Prince Harry denied right to wear military uniform at the Queen’s funeral but Prince Andrew who brought disrepute to Royal Navy & Royal family can? Harry has impeccable military record, supports wounded war veterans & founded #InvictusGames!” another added.
Prince Harry served two tours in Afghanistan and eventually rose to the rank of captain. He received at least three medals for his decade of service. After stepping down from the royal family, he lost three honorary military titles.
The last time he was seen in uniform was at the Mountbatten Festival of Music at the Royal Albert Hall in London in March 2020.
The royal family will be joined by other world leaders and dignitaries as they honor Queen Elizabeth II at Westminster Abbey on Sept. 19. The Queen died on Sept. 8 at age 96.
