Better Call Saul recasts character for final season - Digital Spy

A new teaser for the second part of Better Call Saul season six has confirmed that a key character has been recast: cab driver Jeff.

Originally played by Don Harvey, Jeff is the eccentric cab driver who has so far only been seen in the show's black and white present-day segments.

Jeff recognises Jimmy/Gene (Bob Odenkirk) as the former Saul Goodman, confronting him after Gene had taken a ride in Jeff's cab.

Harvey played the role in two episodes. However, the actor also features in HBO drama We Own This City, and a Better Call Saul fan site stated that Harvey couldn't reprise his role as Jeff for the final season "due to contract obligations".

Actor Pat Healy will be taking over the role as a result.

Healy is known for roles in Amazon Prime Video's Them, Grey's Anatomy spin-off Station 19, and Netflix movies Velvet Buzzsaw and Run, and will also be appearing in Martin Scorsese's hotly-anticipated movie Killers of the Flower Moon alongside Leonardo DiCaprio and Robert De Niro.

The first half of Better Call Saul's final season concluded on a huge cliffhanger. Fans don't have to wait much longer to see what happens next, with the second half beginning on July 11.

The series will run for six more episodes before the Breaking Bad spin-off comes to an official end. Before coming to a conclusion, the show will feature appearances from Bryan Cranston and Aaron Paul as Walt and Jesse respectively.

The show has consistently been met with critical acclaim, amassing a whopping 39 Emmy nominations for its first five seasons including an Outstanding Drama Series nomination for each season.

Better Call Saul airs on AMC in the US and Netflix in the UK.
